Men

Men can be pretty skeptical about counseling. When I hear from a guy who is even considering the idea of beginning the process of starting therapy, one of the first things he asks is "yeah, but can you help me?" In fact, I'm pretty sure that you were thinking that exact same question now. So, let's save some time. Here's the answer. Chances are pretty damn good that I have helped another guy with the same stuff that you're struggling with.

I work with so many men from so many walks of life, but nearly all of them have one thing in common. They all face a challenge that they need help with and they all want a safe, unthreatening environment to go and get that help. This is that place. No matter what issue you are facing, I am here to help you through it.

The list of different issues and concerns that men see me for is unending but these are the types of men’s challenges that I most commonly see and help out with:

  • Marriage problems
  • Communication skills
  • Affairs (both men and women)
  • Marriage separation
  • Divorce
  • Challenges with porn
  • Sex and Gender Identity questions
  • Depression help

If you're like many men, you probably feel like you're supposed to be strong and fearless. But let's be real. Just because you're strong, it doesn't mean that you won't face challenges in your life. Recognizing the problems in your own life and looking for a place to get help is not a sign of weakness. In fact, it's a sign of great strength and courage. I help my clients meet their challenges head on with straight talk and proven solutions. Don’t let yourself stay stuck. If you are struggling with any of the problems on the list above or any other issues in your life (for real, seriously), it's time to come hang out with me.

There is a ton pressure on men to be the strong character that is reminiscent of the caveman. But at the same time, we both know that there is the growing expectation to maintain this character while also being a gentler kind of guy. Have you been told to learn to share your emotions and be less stoic? But here at the counseling office, when men can truly be themselves, I find that many guys  don't really desire to integrate this quality into their character. Shame is very often used to manipulate and control men. Maybe you're ashamed when you fail to be a portrait of strength, but then you may also feel shame when someone tells you that you're “too strong.” This back and forth is an extremely difficult thing to reconcile.

If you're curious to know how men’s counseling works, I'll show you. For starters, you and I will focus on how best to solve your problem head-on, and I will get it solved in as short amount of time as possible. But remember, each of us is different from the guy next to us, so each problem will need to be solved differently. That is what I am here for.

Depending on what you need, counseling may require only a few meetings, or it may take meeting for a couple of months to get the changes you need. Either way, I will come up with a plan with you during the first meeting. Each meeting is typically 50 minutes long. Regardless of where you live in Pennsylvania, I can work with you. Men in the Philadelphia area can meet with me face to face. Men from outside of that immediate area can meet with me online via a secure video platform.

I know that it's difficult to seek help, particularly from a therapist, and this can cause issues to fester and get worse. I will help you normalize your issues and challenges. This means that you will learn in therapy that your challenges are things that all men struggle with. In the long run, psychotherapy is highly beneficial in helping you think through and resolve your internal conflicts.

I know that men need a unique kind of counseling approach to get the results they want. Come meet with me!

What kind of men benefit from counseling?

  • Men who never thought they'd step foot in a therapy office.
  • Men who've tried to solve things on their own but now face a crisis in their relationship, job or family that is too overwhelming this time.
  • Men who find that the past keeps getting in the way.
  • Men who may be ready to resolve their trauma.
  • Men who have tried other therapies who are not getting the results they want.
